We are a fourth generation company
Proudly serving customers and our community for over 60 years
At Feltz Manufacturing, we use 5/16" corrigated back high speed steel, inlay carbide, and double back carbides. We have the capability to grind many types of steel.
We use an electronic measuring system to obtain radial and axial numbers. This systems also helps us to align knives when we put them into a head.
We use 20 mm axial constant (10mm for templates and 10 mm for knives) on our knives which allows us to have an overhang past the profile. If you prefer something different, please specify.
We make a new knife in four steps.
First step is to measure and cut the knife to size.
The next step is to weigh each knife to make sure they weigh exactly the same.
Once knives are in the head, they are ready for grinding.
The final step in our process is to get the radial and axial numbers using our EMA stand.

NOTE:
When calculating prices for knives, don't forget to add 3/4" to the profile for overhang (10mm)
Example:
If your profile is 2" wide and 1 1/4" depth of cut, you would calculate it like the following:
2" (profile width) + 3/4" (overhang) = 2 3/4" (total width per knife)
2 3/4 X $25.00 (cost per inch)=$68.75
$68.75 X 2 =$137.50 (2 knives in a set)
Cost of template = $30.00
Total = $167.50 plus shipping and packaging
